Haworthia limifolia is an unusually attractive and a leaf succulent plant. The leaves are rough-textured and are arranged in a tight spiral rosette like setting. Leaves are triangular shaped and have distinctly marked ridges all over its surfaces, making them look like very hard on the leaf tips. Because of the ridges, these plants are called Fairy Wash Boards and also account for its own name “Haworthia limifolia” which means “File Leafed”. Haworthia is an easy growing plant, which seems to produce a series of offsets. These offsets can be separated and planted in a new pot to become a new Haworthia of the same kind. Haworthias usually produce inflorescence on a long stalk which may grow up to 2 feet. On this stalk grows a lot of small not-so attractive flowers.

Having drawn to this succulent beauty, I recently bought this Haworthia from a local nursery. Re-potted the plant within few days of its purchase and now its growing very well. Just eagerly waiting to see it flower or produce any offsets. It may be too soon to expect that from a new plant, but I can’t hide the anticipation and excitement. In future I am planning to search and buy other species of Haworthias. 🙂
